Testing BMW exhaust pipes for leaks
Visteon Autopal s.r.o. , 2010
Visteon, manufacturer of car exhaust pipes, systematically tests the product for tightness as it is one of its most important features. To this end, Deimos has developed a range of testing and production devices that, all together, form a line with a high degree of automation. The machine, delivered in March 2010, checks two parts of the system following their soldering in terms of seal resilience and tightness. Following the hyper-pressurizing, the soldered parts are checked for pressure decreases (with millibar accuracy) using an Ateq device. Originally, the machine was controlled by an operator who was later replaced by a robot. As a result, the appliance is very compact, fast and highly reliable. With just minor modifications, the modular solution enables the assessment of similar products, such as a part of the BMW exhaust pipe (for whom the machine was built). For this particular contract, Deimos also developed special software that is now applied within other overpressure-based testing units.
